lladro

Thousands of people worldwide collect lladro, and it would be difficult to walk along the streets of any Spanish town without seeing a few pieces for sale.

The perfect gift, so many of their wonderful figures exist – elegant ladies with flower baskets, doves, nurses, elephants, shy women, bulls, card players, beagles … the list is endless.

And this beautiful Spanish porcelain – with its delicate colours, and evoking sentiments that touch the heart – is truly one of Spain´s great success stories.

Yet, as little as 50 years ago, these exquisite collectors´ items had hardly been heard of!

So … how did it all happen? /top-tour-of-spain.com/

Spanish clothing stores change sizes

Spain’s biggest fashion retailers have agreed to re-size their clothing in an attempt to better reflect the real sizes of women and reduce pressure on them to conform to a skinny image.

Giants such as Inditex, which owns: Zara, El Corte Ingles, Mango and Cortefiel are behind the agreement, aimed at making fashion sizes truthful, homogenous and comprehensible.

Labels will include not just the overall size but specifics such as hip and shoulder size.

Bacelona`s Carnival!

In the Catalan capital of Barcelona enjoys itself with the annual carnival, which runs from February 1st to March 31st 2007.

The theme of the event can be summed up in one simple word: excess. :) From food to costumes, the Catalans know a good opportunity to go overboard when they see one, and the festival doesn’t disappoint.

The event begins with a traditional tortilla competition, the winner being commended for taste, presentation and filling. That is just the start of two months’ worth of culinary experimentation.

Two very different events mark the conclusion of the carnival. The final weekend sees a colourful parade, complete with streamers, banners, marching bands and carriages, marches through the streets.:)

However, the excitement doesn’t stop for the bars and restaurants, who continue to lay on special promotions for as long as possible, meaning that patrons won’t be able to avoid being caught up in the whirlwind of celebration.

Unique spirit…

Las Ramblas is the most famous buolevad in Barcelona. Always crowded ( specially before lunch hour), emanating extraoridnary energy. The most entertaining and amazing thing is wide range of street shows offered by artists. There is a lot of restaurants, cafes, gift shops with a specific climate. Unfortunately, big department stores are situated in that area which don`t go with all the climate. That`s why- it`s better to go to this tiny shop so characteristic for Barcelona, as shopping giants that are at every other place. ;)
